Units from 5-11 were called to assist station 5-8 on 2-22-10 @ 14:23. Deputy 5-11 in route w/ a heavy column of smoke 2 miles out, Engine 5-11-1 made the response along with units from 5-7, 5-8, 5-12, 5-6 & 5-3. Deputy 5-11 arrived with a fully involved house w/ 2 active propane leaks sending fire several feet above the dwelling & set up command 5-8 & quickly going to 2nd alarm. Eng 5-8-1 arrived and laid 1300’ of 5”supply lane into the scene engine 5-11-1 arrived soon after hooking into the middle of the 5” and supplying eng 5-8-1. Crews immediately went into a defensive operation due to the extent of the fire. Crews controlled the propane leak and prevented any bleve’s from happening. Tanker 5-7 arrived and set up in the nurse tanker position as engine 5-5-2 set up the fill site @ Silvermine rd and Marticville rd. Deputy 5-11 was met by a neighbor soon after arrival advising crew their may be a victim still in the residence. Due to the fire be so advanced crews could not safely make any entry into the building due to the building deteriorating so quickly. The house began to collapse into the residence approximately 15 minutes after arrival of units. Crews continued to work to control the active fire as well as controlling and moving the propane tanks away from the structure. Through out the incident more and more information was gathered determining there was a good chance the occupant was still in the residence. Crews then began working on making the changes needed to allow the tracko to get in and begin removing debris to assist PSP in the possible body recovery, crews continued to work through the night rotating companies in and out of the incident until the body was recovered near midnight.
Crews then began the final cleanup consisting of several fans used to control steam, many hand tools and 1000’s of feet of hose. Station 5-11 was all back in service @ 01:38
